1° where does the belly button piercing come from?
There are few traces of belly button piercing in history. However, many belly button ornaments have been found, previously used for rituals or simply for aesthetics.
It was at the end of the 90s and the beginning of the 2000s that this piercing was really democratized.
First spotlight on this piercing with supermodel Christy Turlington, who wore a belly button piercing during a parade in London in 1993. This appearance takes this piercing out of the underground environment in which it was still.
Subsequently, other personalities have revealed their piercing. Special thanks to Madonna, Beyonce, Janet Jackson and of course, Britney Spears for showing the beauty of this piercing ♡
2° Why have your belly button pierced?
Reasons to get your belly button pierced? Let’s not be afraid to repeat ourselves: simply because it’s beautiful!
Here are other small reasons: self-esteem, self-confidence, personal satisfaction, and many others! It’s up to you to tell us your reasons 😉
Not to mention the advantages of this piercing, which can be both chic and sexy, and which only reveals itself if you wish!
3° does the belly button piercing hurt?
As with other piercings, the pain is individual. We are not all made the same and do not all have the same sensitivity.
There are more pleasant moments, but rest assured, the act is very fast!
In addition, at MBA – My Body Art, we pierce with the freehand technique, that is to say without pliers, which considerably reduces pain!
Our advice: the more relaxed you are and the deeper you breathe, the less you will feel the needle pass.
4° Can everyone have their belly button pierced?
Unfortunately no. The belly button is a part of the body very specific to each person: certain morphologies cannot accommodate the belly button piercing, at the risk of rejection. It will then be better to opt for another piercing.
However, there are alternatives! You can go to the store to discuss it with our professional teams who will be able to advise you and find the best solution according to your morphology.

6° what care should be taken after a belly button piercing?
You can find all of our care tips for healing a piercing here.
The most important thing is that it is always clean. You should therefore neither touch it nor move it (it’s tempting, we know) and follow the care routine for at least 1 month (namely that it won’t hurt to continue them throughout the healing process. ):
- Lather a small amount of mild soap (neutral pH) on your fingers;
- Apply the hazelnut on the piercing. Do not rotate the piercing! It is simply necessary to clean the contours of the latter so that there is no microbe which can nest there;
- Rinse thoroughly with warm water;
- Let dry ;
- Rinse with saline solution;
- Let dry ;
- For two weeks only: apply a little alcohol-free antibacterial using a sterile compress.
All care will be explained to you on the day of your piercing. If necessary, we offer kits for your care in store.
In case of doubt or problem with healing, you can go to the shop at any time to ask our teams for advice on the care to follow.
7° how long does the belly button piercing take to heal?
As for the pain, the healing of the belly button piercing is variable according to each person, but is always relatively long because of its zone, often under tension. It takes at least 6 months for healing.
It is forbidden to change jewelry until your piercing is healed ! Doing so would lead to complications and you could injure yourself changing the jewelry since the canal is not healed. Plus, it’s the best way to get bacteria into it.
8° how do I change my jewellery?
Our teams are there to confirm, when the time comes, that your piercing is well healed. The verification is free, do not hesitate to come and visit us. You will also have all the advice concerning the size of the jewel that you can put on.
After healing, you can either change your jewel alone, or have us make your change: these are made by our piercers, and they are free if you buy your jewel from us .😉
9° When is it best to have your belly button pierced?
The period you prefer will be the right one, but as with any piercing, you must take into account the instructions to follow after your piercing.
To know: avoid rubbing or clothing that would press on the piercing (no high waists for a while), no damp places, no swimming in stagnant water (bath, sea, lake, sauna, etc.) months following your piercing.
Pregnancies: If you plan to have a child in the coming months, we advise you to wait to get a piercing, because you will have to remove it.
